My hobbies include talking, reading, playing with computers (some call it breaking, but that's semantics), and anything that involves me holding a drawing pencil and an eraser.
I have a sarcastic sense of humor and use it more than probably wise.
I absolutely L-O-V-E reading. I learned to read at age 3. I've not stopped doing it ever since. My favorite genres are historical fiction and mysteries. The easiest way to occupy me for days (and make me ridiculously happy at the same time) is to leave me stuck in a library or bookstore. (I'm not necessarily a cheap date, but I'm really easy to satisfy, as you can see. ;p)
As noted in the "How to Use" section, the word favorite book has a different meaning for me than for most people. Really any book I enjoyed a lot is a favorite. Though if I had to make a list, LOTR and Harry Potter would certainly make it, as would anything by Tonke Dragt and Agatha Christie, who happen to be my favorite writers (those I do have). Also on the list are the magnificent J.K. Rowling and Christine Noestlinger. I'm also very fond of Arturo Perez-Reverte and his Capitan Alatriste books, and yes, I did like Angels & Demons as well as The Da Vinci Code (tho not so much The Lost Symbol). They're not necessarily my favorite books, but they served their purpose in entertaining me.
If I had a million bucks, I'd spend a third of it on the needs of the less fortunate, a third on my family's well-being, and a third on building myself a library that rivals the one the Beast gives to Belle in Beauty and the Beast. Heck, I'd marry the guy even if he did not transform back into human if he'd given me that kind of present. ;)
Random tidbits and trivia:
- As I noted above, I learned how to read when I was 3.
- I'm originally from Bosnia and Herzegovina, but I have lived and mostly grew up in Germany. The past 11 years or so, I've been living in the U.S.
- I can speak and/or read Bosnian/Serbian/Croatian, German, English, Spanish, and French. I also studied Latin for 4 years, and took a year of Japanese in college.
- I love manga and anime. I still read/watch them. I know, I'm too old for them, but I don't care. ;)
- I tend to pick books by the cover. If it looks interesting, I'll read the jacket/back description - I know, it's the worst pun on the "Judging books by their cover" saying, but it's true. Can't deny it.
- I always try to finish a book I start. I hate not finishing a book. Even if it's horrible, and I realize how horrible it is after reading only a few pages.
- One of my favorite places in the world are - you guessed it - libraries. Second favorite spot: Bookstores. Third: Woods, parks and meadows - I like the greenery. Also, they makes a great place to lie down and read in spring and summer. :)
